Linux has tons of text editors and note managers starting from vim to Notepadqq (a Notepad++ clone). However, who doesn’t want to try fresh notebooks? Notes is a Qt5 based simplistic note manager.
The GUI is as minimal as possible with a list of your notes and an editing pane. No settings whatsoever. You can search your notes. Notes are save automatically as you write. Common keyboard shortcuts are available but you may not even need them if you are not a keyboard junkie.
Notes is available for many Linux platforms as well as Windows and OS X.
Download notes from it’s homepage for your OS. To install on Ubuntu:
$ sudo dpkg -i notes_version_arch.deb $ sudo dpkg --configure -a $ sudo apt-get -f install
