Google crusade against torrent sites?

google_compIt started within last hour. I am using SRWare Iron (a Chromium mod) with phishing and malware protection service enabled on Ubuntu. I noticed that the service reported torrentz.in as a probable malicious website.

Almost at the same time a poster in Hacker News reported something similar about kar.cr.

What’s striking is this part in both the reports: Of the n pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 2 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent.

There’s zero information on what Google detected as malicious and there’s no mention of the fact that these are torrent hosting websites, which are already known to have material shared without user consent.

What’s Google trying to do here? torrentz.in does not host any material, it indexes those. In that respect, you can search and find torrents directly from Google’s search engine too!

  1. Yes, one of the best international torrent sites, called torrentz.eu, has been blocked too, I just checked.

BTW, I like your new theme ( ՞ٹ՞)
