View Emoji (smileys) on Ubuntu

ubuntu_logo_81x81Who doesn’t love smileys or Emojis? Emojis are included in Unicode fonts and new ones are being added.However, you won’t be able to view smileys by default in some Ubuntu applications (like Corebird) because the right fonts are not installed by default. All you need to install is the Unicode Fonts for Ancient Scripts package.

To install the fonts on Ubuntu 14.04:

$ sudo apt-get install ttf-ancient-fonts

For Ubuntu 14.10 and above:

$ sudo apt-get install ttf-ancient-fonts-symbola
