Picapy: sync Picasa on Ubuntu

picapy_compUpdate: Picapy is too resource hungry while downloading albums. Hangs up in between downloading full albums. Don’t bother using this tool.

If you are looking for a lightweight application to view, upload, download, remove or reorganize your Picasa albums on Ubuntu, Picapy is the right tool for you. Though Picasa storage limit seems pretty meagre (just 1 GB) still it is one of the pioneers in online photo storage and many people still have photos there. Picapy will help you out on Linux, even when you want to migrate the photos.

To install Picapy on Ubuntu, run:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:atareao/atareao
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install picapy

Use DownloadThemAll Firefox extension if you are only interested in downloading your uploaded images. In our experience it is much more reliable than Picapy.
